The biggest blunder for me was that lack of setting. We had no idea where Michael was as he trekked his way back(?) to Haddonfield (which is located 10 minutes from a late night talk show?).

I'm genuinely holding out hope that Zombie's director's cut at least cleans up some of the issues I had with the film. There's still a part of me that hopes ...

(SPOILERS!!! SPOILERS!!!) that my first instinct with the ending was right: that Laurie was the killer all along. Considering the early deaths have no connection with the rest of the action, it's possible they were all fantasies, right? Maybe? It would just give the film a reason to exist in my opinion.

I do agree that Sheri Moon was fine in the first film, but was so glaringly unneeded here. Sigh. Better luck next time, Zombies.deadlydollshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06061028044836745499noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2227664847730231017.post-83946038903024925092009-09-02T21:04:51.994-04:002009-09-02T21:04:51.994-04:00Vince,
I was looking forward to hearing your views...Vince,
I was looking forward to hearing your views on this one and as usual you did not disappoint. I had a feeling you would appreciate Zombie's handling of the Brackets (impressive considering their relative screen time) and I was right. Some criticize his way with characters or lack thereof but I'm beginning to suspect that the lack of momentum I felt in the final act was due to the fact that I was shellshocked by Annie's demise. With all its crazy faults this is one of those rare movies that has me thinking of visiting it a second time in the theater (for better or worse) Thanks for the review!-Unkkindertraumahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07176839856388835793noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2227664847730231017.post-82459631839893211452009-09-01T23:27:18.543-04:002009-09-01T23:27:18.543-04:00I am a very big Halloween fan and have been since ...I am a very big Halloween fan and have been since the first one hit the movie screen. But this latest Halloween II sucks!!!!! Rob Zombie should be fired and never asked to do another one in my opinion. Maybe the directors of Texas Chainsaw can take on Halloween since they did such a good job with Friday the 13th. Going to see Halloween was such a waste of my money and time of my life that I will never get backAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2227664847730231017.post-47641850667660808492009-08-31T17:12:51.206-04:002009-08-31T17:12:51.206-04:00Vince, great review - you "almost" make ...Vince, great review - you "almost" make me want to see this film...maybe when it comes out on DVD.

I have watched all of RZ's work so far, and will admit that he does have small bursts of genius in his films (the slow-mo death ride scored to Freebird in Devil's Rejects for instance), but by the time his version of Halloween came to an end, I was pretty much over him and his tricks.Pax Romanohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00951019083510283683noreply@blogger.com
